Veterans receive priority service — so please let us know of your veteran status when you call or arrive at our job centers. Representatives from the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services are onsite to support veterans and provide information and resources.

OhioMeansJobs Cuyahoga County provides Equal Access assistance for individuals who need extra support or accommodations. Together with our partners, we provide:

  • Critical services for individuals with disabilities. 
  • Foreign language and American Sign Language interpreter services, assistive technology, and onsite assistance. 

Our onsite partner, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), is a state agency that empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence. OOD provides counseling and guidance to individuals with disabilities seeking employment to jointly choose an employment goal based on strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, capabilities, and interests. A thorough, objective understanding of your assets and liabilities, and of employment opportunities, is a prerequisite in planning.

If you are unemployed through no fault of your own, you may be eligible for unemployment benefits. Here’s how to apply for assistance:

  • Apply online: You can apply through the Department of Job and Family Services. Applying online is the quickest way to start receiving unemployment benefits. 
  • Apply by phone: If you don’t have access to a computer, you can apply by calling 1-877-644-6562. Call center hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In person job support

  • While you cannot apply for unemployment benefits at the OhioMeansJobs Center, we provide in-person support to help those receiving unemployment benefits meet requirements. Our team offers one-on-one guidance and coordination with state partners so you can move forward with confidence. This includes: Filing initial and weekly unemployment claims, including account setup, navigation, and submission
  • Creating or updating OhioMeansJobs.com resumes and Career Profiles, plus basic job search support
  • OH|ID login help, including password resets and account recovery
  • Faxing identity verification documents and other required paperwork
  • Identity verification. Employment professionals review identity documents for claimants and record verification in the Ohio Job Insurance system.
  • OhioMeansJobs.com resume and career profile verification. Employment professionals confirm completion and enter dates in the Ohio Job Insurance system for claimants.
  • Verification of Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) activities. Employment professionals confirm completion and enter dates in the Ohio Job Insurance system.

Need help with adjudications, appeals or other claim issues?

Every Thursday starting at 9am, a representative from the Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations is available at the OhioMeansJobs Center to assist. Thirty-minute appointments are first come, first serve with sign-ups beginning at 8am.
